Decorations for Halloween
Every September I start to get excited about planning a great Halloween party for our friends and family. Our children are only 6 and 8 so they are really into Halloween this year. That means that my husband will take them out trick or treating and I’ll be home handing out candy and putting the final touches on our decorations for Halloween.
We want to entertain more than scare our children and their friends so our Halloween props will be more humorous than scary. This year we’ll stick to the basics witches, ghosts, and skeletons. I’m going to get a Halloween door cover that shows a witch slamming into the front door and going splat. Then I’m going to take a real broom and lay it down so it’ll make little ones think again! I’m also going to have a witches cauldron with fake fire to the side of the steps. I’m going to have fake bottles of witch’s potions beside the cauldron for the kids to take home. It’ll just be some water – nothing toxic.
For effect they’ll be a few skeletons with signs around their necks saying Caution don’t drink the witch’s potion and Look what happened to us! And of course well have to have a few friendly ghosts flying through the trees.
I’ll be dressed as a witch with a big witch’s hat and funny shoes as I hand out the Halloween Candy. Of course I’ll have a smaller cauldron for a candy bowl. As the children arrive back at the house, they’ll be able to come in and see tha Halloween witch cake and all of the Halloween snacks.
They’ll have a great time and really enjoy Halloween without getting terribly scared.
