Game Room
Do you need a license to rent video game room?

Hi, I just started a video entertainment store selling and renting movies and video games. I have a license to rent both dvds and games but I was wondering if anyone knows you if you need anything special to rent out rooms to play video games in. I was thinking about setting up a network of tvs and consoles so they can either rent out individually units or a group room for larger crowds. Any ideas on licenses or permits?

A little information about your Location would help.

Depending on your area, some cities or counties are just happy you paid your business License.

My first answer will be, that it will not matter, you if rent out space to let people play the games, like a internet cafe, or gaming room

How are you going to write it up, you are renting computer time?
what would the license say. because you are still selling DvD and things.

Most stores sell outside their scope a little, The hardware store sells drinks and candy bars but they did not get a special permit for it.

If you are really worred and don’t mind rocking the boat, you can to ask. But best to not rock the boat.

Last thing to look at, is what does your lease of your store space say?
it may not say what you can do there eather.

So don’t worry about it, but if it starts to make big money, go talk to the license officer and see what they think.

Good Luck
