Led Signs
Leaving an LED “Open” sign on all night. Yes or no?

Just a simple question. I recently got one of those “Open” LED signs from one of my friends and I hung it up on one of the walls in my room. I was wondering, would leaving it on all night use up a lot of power?

LED’s are very low power users. Leaving a sign like this on all night would hardly be noticable on your electric use. An LED typically uses about 0.02 amps at around 2 volts. This is 0.04 watts. If the sign has 100 LED’s in it that’s only 4 watts. If you left it on 24 hours a day for a month you consume no more than 3 kWh. At 12¢ per kWh (check your own electical cost in your area) that would be about 36 ¢ a month.
